What Does VP60 Commemorate?
On the 15th of August 1945 Japan announced its surrender to
the Allies, bringing to an end six years of world war that
had raged across Europe, Asia, Africa and the Pacific costing
the lives of between fifty and sixty million people.
On the 15th August each year, we commemorate the end of that
conflict and pause to remember the sacrifice of those who
fought, died and defended the freedom that we enjoy today
- 60 years later.
